U10 Final Four East League<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Jetzt ist es wirklich passiert!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Underdog – ich liebe dieses Wort. Laut Definition: „eine Person, oder ein Team, die in einem Wettbewerb als Au\u00dfenseiter gilt und von der erwartet wird, dass sie verliert.“ Aber wie jeder \u201edog“ kann auch dieser zubei\u00dfen. So geschehen beim Finalturnier der besten 4 Mannschaften der laufenden Saison in der U10-Liga Ost. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alles war angerichtet: Heimvorteil, Prachtwetter, Fans, Selbstvertrauen durch eine solide F\u00fchrung im Grunddurchgang und der vermeintlich schw\u00e4chste Gegner im Halbfinale. Das alles sollte den Durchmarsch der FIREBIRDS beim Final4-Turnier am 20.9. in Attnang-Puchheim garantieren. Aber die Underdogs – n\u00e4mlich unsere U10-HURRICANES – wollten nicht einfach nur mitspielen – sie wollten auch Spass haben und den Tabellenf\u00fchrer fordern. Herausragendes Pitching, konstant gute Defensiv- und Offensivleistung und TEAMGEIST, TEAMGEIST, TEAMGEIST f\u00fchrten uns schlie\u00dflich nach einem tollen und nervenaufreibenden Spiel zu einem 9:8 Sieg. Der Spass war da, der Erfolg auch und wer es einmal bis ins Finale geschafft hat, der will auch mehr!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finalgegner waren die Schwechater Bluebats, die die Vienna Wanderers in ihrem Halbfinale mit 12:2 deutlich besiegt hatten. Anfangs lief nicht alles Wunsch und wir gerieten schnell 0:4 in R\u00fcckstand. Im 4. Inning \u00fcbernahmen wir kurzzeitig mit 8:5 die F\u00fchrung, nur um sie am Ende des Innings wieder um einen Punkt abzugeben (8:9). Der Rest des Spiels war nichts f\u00fcr schwache Nerven: wir punkteten im 6. und letzten Inning dreimal – Spielstand 12:11 – die Bluebats genossen jedoch das Heimrecht und durften als letzter zum Schlagen antreten. Bisher hatten sie in allen Innings gepunktet. Die Nerven unserer Helden hielt und mit lautstarker Unterst\u00fctzung von der \u201eBank“ und unseren Fans wurde das Unm\u00f6gliche m\u00f6glich und wir holten uns den Titel \u201eLIGA CHAMPIONS“.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alle, die sich schon in sportlichen Wettk\u00e4mpfen gemessen haben, wissen, wie ganz besonders es ist, als vermeintlicher \u201eUnderdog“ den Sieg nach Hause zu bringen.

It Really Happened!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Underdog \u2013 I love that word. By definition: „a person or team considered unlikely to win a competition.“ But just like any dog, an underdog can bite back. And that’s exactly what happened at the Final Four tournament of the U10 East League this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Everything was set: home field advantage, perfect weather, cheering fans, strong momentum from leading the regular season, and \u2013 on paper \u2013 the weakest opponent in the semifinal. It looked like the FIREBIRDS were all set to cruise through the Final Four on September 20th in Attnang-Puchheim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the underdogs \u2013 our U10 HURRICANES \u2013 weren’t just there to play along. They came to have fun and challenge the league leaders. With outstanding pitching, steady defense and offense, and most of all: TEAM SPIRIT, our kids pulled off a thrilling and nerve-wracking 9\u20138 win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We had fun, we had success \u2013 and once you’ve made it to the finals, you don’t just want to stop there!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the final, we faced the Schwechat Blue Bats, who had crushed the Vienna Wanderers 12\u20132 in their semifinal. Things didn’t start well \u2013 we were quickly down 0\u20134. But in the 4th inning, we rallied and took the lead 8\u20135, only to see it slip away again to 8\u20139 by the end of the inning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rest of the game was not for the faint of heart. We scored 3 more runs in the 6th and final inning \u2013 taking a 12\u201311 lead. But the Blue Bats had home field advantage, meaning they got to bat last. Up to that point, they had scored in every single inning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But our heroes kept their cool. With loud support from the dugout and our amazing fans, the impossible became reality \u2013 and we took home the title:   LEAGUE CHAMPIONS!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anyone who’s ever competed in sports knows how truly special it is to bring home the win as the so-called „underdog.“
